Simplicity is the ultimate form of sophistication.
–Leonardo da Vinci
Most every morning I sit down with my coffee and read the Sydney Morning Herald online. It’s my time to catch up on the events of the world.
I also mange to check emails, and this quote by Leonardo da Vinci caught my eye this morning.
I’m a fan of simplicity. It’s part of my design ethic. Inspired by simplicity, asymmetry and all things beautiful.
I’ve tried the fancy, complicated necklaces – and I still wear them, just not that often. My personal necklace wardrobe now consists more of single strands, unusual stones and pendants, pearls and earthy colours.
What does your jewellery wardrobe reflect – simplicity? Or a more ‘out-there’ style?
And it’s nice to know that one of our great artists thought that simplicity was pretty cool too!

Diary of a Design – Lost Wax Casting Continued
Our sterling silver castings have finally arrived back.
They took a little longer than I thought they would… I wonder if this is the norm. Fist time I’ve had one done, so we’ll see…
I blogged about the blue wax and sculpting process here – Diary of a Design – Lost Wax Casting - and you got to see the ‘blue’ Goddess.
Now here she is in silver…
- Goddess in Silver
I had four of the forms cast. Each one weighs in at 18 grams of silver (0.035 ounces) – so she is fairly weighty…. which also translates to expense.
I still have to finish the gals a little more. Remove sprue marks, polish and drill holes for threading. I’m also not sure how she’ll be presented. I want to wear mine on a silver chain – I think her form is gorgeous and womanly. Proud to be a female.
If you have any suggestions on how you think best to present her, please feel free to share. I will eventually be posting her on Etsy, so stay tuned.
Cheers,
Tasha
